Catching up on the watercolor of sketches that were done in December.  The inkline was done on site but the watercolor was added later.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

We attended Christmas Eve Candle Light Service at University Presbyterian Church.  You have to get there at least a half an hour before the service starts to get a seat.  It was packed.  I always bring my sketch book so I can sketch while we wait for the service to start.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Coolest Coffee shops In Seattle

There are a lot of Coffee shops in Seattle.  Some are the standard Starbucks or Tullys, but have you ever googled "coolest coffee shops in Seattle?"  There are quite a few that  really have a special ambiance. I consider Zeitgeist one  of them.  I love the art Deco feeling of the space the honey colored maple cabinets, with the deco ironwork, the exposed brick walls and heavy timber structure.  It is a great place to have coffee a pastry and a sketch.
This last Saturday I met my friend Connie and we did just that.  Here is the sketch from the coffee shop.  I was able to finish the line work during the two hours I was there but had to add the color from a photograph later.

Soulumination Annual Artist Sale this Saturday and Sunday Dec. 7-8

It is that time of year!  Last year was my first time participating in the Soulumination Annual Artist Sale.  I had a table selling my cards, gift tags and calendars.  This year I will be selling some of my original sketches as well.

Soulumination is a great non profit organization that connects photographers with families who have children with life threatening or terminal diseases.  The photographers donate their services to take pictures of the children with their families.  Soulumination creates albums of remembrance to give to the families.  Portions of the artist sales at this event goes to supporting the work of Soulumination.
Stop by if you have time, it is a wonderful event with great arts and crafts for sale, hope to see you there!

Thanksgiving Spread

Our annual thanksgiving feast has come and gone.  One of the decadent things we observe each year at our table is an over abundance of desserts.  For 17 of us, there were a total of 9 pies and cakes of some form,  Pumpkin Cheese Cake, two Pumpkin pies, two Apple Pies, Key Lime pie, Lemon Chiffon Pie, Chocolate peanut butter cheese cake, Chessman Pie.  To tell you the truth I think there was another pie on the counter that was not brought to the table.  While waiting for everyone to share what they were thankful for  I was able to do this sketch to catch all the pies before they were devoured.  I ran out of room and didn't get in the last pie!
